Download

(or beta autoupdate)
A rolling update
I will be rolling out the update through the course of the day. Beta testers will receive the update first and then regular users who have set the app to automatic update. I'll then post on the forum, blog and webpage. Then I'll hit up the Mac download sites and finally post to Apple.
I would ask that users don't post the Journler update to any of these sites before I do. I've noticed in the past that sites like MacUpdate and VersionTracker modify their Journler postings before I submit the update to them. Please don't do this. I roll the update out incrementally with the intention of ensuring the smoothest transition. It helps me tremendously to spread the adoption out over at least a few hours.
Changes - Web page freeze
The final version includes a number of small changes not included in the GM. Additionally, on a hunch I modified the code that starts up the progress indicator in a web page. Folks who were experiencing freezes with this, please let me know if you continue to do so. If that's the case I will post the alternate update as well.
Yay Journler 2.5.4! |

| It's not necessarily beta testers posting to MUD or VT; it's in your news feed too. |

Good point. And then there's feeds of feeds, so who knows where the words end up!
To the world: Please don't post the Journler 2.5.4 update to the Mac download sites. I try to follow a systematic approach and will make sure it's taken care of. |

| Actually you don't even have to post the information anywhere, my experience it's enough that you update the download files ... VT and MU seem to have some script that walks around the web and check files for updates. |

Unfortunately It happened again in the final version.
When I clicked the icon of Safari in the resources pane, my system freezed again.

@keizo and others with freezing problem
That's unfortunate, but I am prepared for it. Use this version for the time being:
Journler 2.5.4 alternate
That download is identical to the original except the progress indicator code has been removed. |

Thanks Phil.
It works fine.

|
Hi Phil.
I've recently purchased rooSwitch for the purpose of having multiple journler databases. I'd like to point out a problem. When the Journler app is dropped into the rooSwitch application to produce an "instance" of the database, rooSwitch is told to look into ~/Library/Application Support/Journler for the files. I understand that this was the setup under the previous versions of Journler, but now that you've arrived to 2.5.4 GM, the rooSwitch app should be told to look into ~/Documents/Journler, no?
Can you fix this?
Thanks,
Adam |

| No, but you can. In the rooSwitch window you'll see the two lines for your alternates. Either right-click and then delete them, or edit them for the correct locations. It is easiest to simply delete both of them and then start again. |

I think NovaScotian's response is what you're looking for. I don't believe this is something I can fix from my end. There's nothing in Journler available to an outside app that tells it where Journler's installs it's stuff by default.
Of course rooSwitch could be working on the assumption that app support stuff is in fact usually installed in ~/Home/Library/Application Support. Journler followed that established practice until Leopard for reasons related to Spotlight searching. |
