Phil --
Any chance you could share with us when you think 2.6 will be released?

| :-) In a recent post, Phil said he would not predict, that things are going well, but as a loner in this project, a glitch can set him back. |

2.6 *will not* include syncing.
I am not able to offer a timeline for 2.6. Originally I wanted to have it finished by the end of the year. That will not be the case.
Every time I suggest a timeline, I fail to meet it. I think I've learned the lesson, but then I end up suggesting other timelines.
I understand the desire for a timeline. It only seems fair to the users to provide one. Nevertheless, I cannot offer one. |

phil- are you suggesting that now that journler is a paid product you are still unable to dedicate the resources to complete it? the implication seems to be that even as a paid product it is not economically viable. i would actually be willing to pay again to support committed development and i suspect some others would too simply because we have found journler to fit the bill more than most other paid products on the market.
good luck. |

No reply - since Oct... hmmm... Personally I'd just take a timeline to alpha or beta for 2.6, from there we could help Phil... Not holding my breath... Stephen

Me to. A couple of more bucks seems like a small price to pay for an application I'm in all day long. Heck I just paid $12 to see James Bond again...plus popcorn. |

| I'm thinking (without any more data than you have) that Phil's burnt out rather than broke. I don't think money is the issue. |

Burn out would be sad... not good... it seems overall that journler, however very functional from the 2.5 standpoint, is stuck just there... no real road map to 2.6 or 3.0.
I wonder what Phil is off working on...? I suggested open sourcing Journler so we could do something to help.

| I have heard a rumor that Phil (who moved to Berkeley earlier this year) was taking a course or courses at UCalB. Given that the semester is now over, perhaps he'll get back to the grind. |

I wish him all the best with his studies and I hope he comes back to Journler soon... A Happy New Year to all!

I found it very impressive that last October the developer was willing to admit that the reason he pulled the blogging functionality was because he felt like it wasn't developed well enough. I just don't understand why someone who was that open and willing to admit his own limitations back then wouldn't do the same now in seeking the help of others. I mean, there are certainly no shortage of developers out there willing to collaborate on a good project- especially one as potent as Journler.
We're pulling for you, Phil!
(p.s. bring back the blogging function! It was great, and would make life SOOOOO much easier) |
