4. There are 3 additional apps that seem comparable to me. There are DocumentWallet and Yep, but they seem to be only for PDF files. They are also far less powerful in organizational features than Journler. One thing they do offer is a front-end to scan and file paper documents. That would be a cool feature for Lex.
But the closest app that comes to mind is Microsoft Entourage, with its Project Center-

One thing I love about Yep is the tagging system. I'd love to see an equvilent in Lex. |

| There are a number of applications that allow you to database a bunch of different kinds of documents (DEVONthink is the prototype, but there are a number of others with slick features that have been mentioned here). What's really needed is well-designed software that allows you to assemble the resources for a project and then supports executing the project. For writing projects, Scrivener's had a lot of buzz recently and it includes some really nice concepts (though Ulysses showed similar ideas earlier). One thing Scrivener lacks, though, is data/document organization features like Journler. A combination of Scrivener's and Journler's features with a document orientation (and perhaps with a bit stronger annotation and citing features) would be awesome. |

I haven't used Scrivener yet but everything I've read and seen makes me glad Journler and Scrivener don't directly compete. The program looks really impressive.
Some kind of Journler - Scrivener interaction would be excellent. Journler for journaling and collecting on a subject, scrivener for putting the paper or book or whatever together. Would be cool. |

I just had an idea which maybe could be great for Lex, which maybe is dumb. I don't know.
What's about having different entry-lists which contain only entries of the same category (or other kind of meta-tag). The lists could be arranged vertically at the left and the right in the main window (speaking from Journlers window optic).
This settings should be saved in the project-files not in the application preferences.
This way one could use Lex e. g. for writing a novel: one entry-pane for persons, one for places, one for notes ... And another file would contain different panes for "to do in the garden", "repairing in house" or whatever. This would be very very flexible for thousands of workflows one even could not imagine at the moment. The advantage against smart folders would be that you could see the contents of more than one at once.
Hope the nucleus of the idea is clear. If and how it could be implemented or further details could be weight out in discussion. |

I agree -- and second that notion entirely.
For now I think the new Scrivener Notes area offers rich text, which could probably used to link to Journler entries.

I sell a boat-program which will help you to outwit auction and to win, initially the boat was created for the Scandinavian auction http://internet-aukcion.ru/ but now the program can work with similar auctions: gagen ru, vezetmne ru and with ten.
The program-boat stakes for you, i.e. for this purpose it is not necessary to sit constantly at the monitor. The boat can set time when it is necessary to stake, thus you as much as possible will lower expenses for rates, and as much as possible increase the chances of a victory.
The price of the program a boat for the Scandinavian auctions 20$
For the first 10 clients the price 15$
To all clients free updating and support.
Behind purchases I ask in icq: 588889590 Max. |
